Post by Budgie516 » Mon Apr 04, 2016 4:09 pm

I'm looking at upgrading my current camera my final list is Canon 7d, 70 or 80 as at the moment just got a 1000d. I know the 7d is the best one but just wanting to owners for these think?

If you can go for the 7d mk2 as against the 7d. Having said that though the 7d is very good and you should get one at a good price. I have both and won't be changing
Canon 5D Mk4 plus long lenses, and lots of hope!

I've just upgraded to the 7D from the 60D (even with a drop in MPS) and its taking a bit of getting used to. Its a great camera, but just be prepared that it will be an even bigger adjustment for yourself than it was for me...

If you could stretch to it, the 7Dii is a belter.
Primary choice from the rest is the 70: it has benefits over the 60, but the change to the 80 didn't justify me changing my spare

I'd go for excellent second user gear, good quality glass is the way, try MPB, they are very good.
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

You don't say what you're current lens setup is, but I'd spend the money on a good quality lens. That sort of money might get you a second hand 100-400L or a 400-5.6L. Either of these should outlast whatever body(s) you can buy for the same money, and will improve the images you get on your existing 1000d

You could spend mega bucks and buy a 1d, but if you put a milk bottle on the front and try to use it as a lens you will be disappointed.

Malcolm has it in one, the lens is where to spend your money, couldn't agree more. I have a couple of 'L' series lenses, both second user and I am really pleased with the results, food for thought.

In the absence of knowing your current Lens, I note you are in Elgin?? There just happens to be a heap of 'nice chappies' that frequent this forum lurking around Lossie' for the next few weeks. Sadly for you, I'm doing Frisian Flag but I always have spare Lenses you could try with your existing camera, just to experience what the other guys are saying!! Talk to the fellas up there & get to try-out some different gear. Also, ask to stick your card in a 7D & 7D mkII with your/their lens attached & compare all the results at home? (Doesn't have to be an aircraft shot to appreciate the results) It may be the way to go?

If it comes to a toss up between the 7D and 7D MkII there's no comparison. The 7D MkII is in a different league completely
