Lunar Eclipse

Post by Pune » Sun Sep 27, 2015 9:28 am

Hi Folks,
Tonight is the night for a total lunar eclipse, any info' on photographing this would really be appreciated, I have very little knowledge/experience of taking astronomical images.
I have a Canon 5d Mk 2 and 17-40 and 100-400 lens, tripod, remote release.
Thanks in advance.

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Hello Prune.. Mount on tripod... use your remote release.. The moon tracks suprisingly quickly through a long lens.. As for the actual shots.. shoot some in auto, shoot some in manual.. looks like its going to be a nice clear night. Id bracket your manual shots. and try differant progames to suit conditions. Should not need very long exposure on manual 1/50th to a full second I should think.. Best of luck.. have fun and experiment..

Hi,

I managed to get this in-between cloud cover. Not the best but was a great sight.
