Hi,
I just wanted to share my experiences of the new D7200.
I've had mine for 3 days now and can honestly say I feel that Nikon finally have a genuine D300 replacement.
The new AF is uber fast and confidentially accurate.
The buffer, a big concern for D7100 users, is excellent. I shot 14 bit RAW and got 26 shots off before the buffer slowed.
In 12 bit lossless RAW I got 39 in the buffer and in fine JPEG, the buffer never slowed.
High ISO noise is exceptional for a DX body, beating the D7100 by quite a way with no banding, as experienced with the 7100 at high ISO's.
Low ISO is really no change from the 7100.
Keeper rate is fantastic, the AF is like a terrier and once it locks on it just doesn't let go.
I could go into more but for most aviation guys, the AF, ISO handling and buffer are three primary selling points.
I hope this has been of interest to some of you.
Cheers!
Mo

It sounds brill glad it has been so good for you, if money was not an issue - i would have gone for the 7200 and nikkor 400 zoom but that was just dreaming land.

The D7200 beats the D300 hands down. I've owned a D300S and one of my current cameras is a D7200. The only ways it doesn't replace the D300 is the weather sealing and pro controls

LOL, the replacement is called the the D500.
Re: Nikon D7200 - finally a real D300 replacement
I've Recently bought a Nikon D7200, with Nikon 18-105 VR lens & Nikor 70-300 VR Lens.
Unfortunately haven't had opportunity to test it out on any Aviation yet, but really looking forward to seeing the results.
How are you finding it?
Have you found any issues?
Thanks
