Possible CV-22's?
Possible CV-22's?
From all the sightings of the V-22's in Newfoundland recently, they are on their usual rotation from theatre i assume as before...
Are these for them to Lajes etc?
Flight level blocks are rather low for the usual coronets and the only things these could be are either V-22s or C-130s.

Re: Possible CV-22's?
Are these the same machines? Have they stopped on a ship en-route?
Ten MV-22B Ospreys from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit landed in
Afghanistan Friday, marking yet another milestone for the aircraft.
Pilots from Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 263 (Reinforced) took off from
the amphibious assault ship Bataan in waves of three, flying the nearly 600
miles to Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, in just over two hours, according to a
news release.
The aircraft will be transferred to VMM-261 upon their arrival from Marine
Corps Air Station New River, N.C. It is not clear if the nearly 200 North
Carolina-based Marines have deployed yet.
The move means the MEU won’t have any medium-lift capability for the
remainder of its deployment, which is scheduled to last until December, but
spokesman Capt. Clark Carpenter said that should the need arise, the unit’s
heavy-lift fleet can get the job done.
“We still retain flexibility with the lift provided by our four CH-53E Super
Stallions,” Carpenter said. “For any close-air support, we still have four
AH-1W Super Cobras, two UH-1N Hueys and six AV-8B Harriers

Re: Possible CV-22's?
It seems the MC-130P's have now left.
They are working Santa Maria heading east as RCH 1014, 1015 and 1023 tonight (00:20L)
Whether or not the CV-22s are with them i don't know.

Re: Possible CV-22's?
Probably not as the photo shows a USAF machine. I am surprised these aircraft have the range to fly Gander - Lajes that must be 1500 miles ? Are the USAF aircraft air refuelable by the C-130 ?GOOSE wrote:Are these the same machines? Have they stopped on a ship en-route?

Re: Possible CV-22's?
Those are different machines, they are USMC -22's and went via USS Bataan.
Both the MV-22 and CV-22 (USAF) refuel from MC-130 and HC-130 Hercules as with the flights this week.
They were supported by MC130s from both the USA and UK.
