CockpitFest 2018
CockpitFest 2018
A few shots of cockpit displays from this year event, although completely missed the new Puma and Chinook displays hiding in the corner. Always next year when they are display ready.

When I saw 'Cockpit Fest' my eyes lit up. Goody, something different. Being an ex-driver I love cockpit shots....... but there weren't any................ Just sawn-in-half aircraft. Nice pics tho', but perhaps should have 'front-half-fest'. No offence, just my opinion.
Re: CockpitFest 2018
That Scimitar would have got my vote. Bang tidy!
Re: CockpitFest 2018
If you keep an eye on the Newark Air Museum web site, you won't have any further disappointment, as they explain what Cockpit-Fest is all about as the day gets nearer. The next one is probably June 2019.jem60 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 24, 2018 8:20 amWhen I saw 'Cockpit Fest' my eyes lit up. Goody, something different. Re: CockpitFest 2018
This year's event was the 19th year that Cockpit-Fest has been run - I obviously need to do much better with the publicity side of things!

Wow...., disturbed and disappointed to see negative comments about this post.
Not every aircraft can be saved and even then, not all the airframe can be saved, so why not save what you can and display it to the best of your ability?
Most of these are in the early stages of restoration by owners who do their best with limited resources and with many cockpits very much a work in progress? My photo`s are nothing special, but I`d of thought the support would be there considering this is a aviation related forum...??
Like I said...., disappointed.

Re: CockpitFest 2018
tc2324 - we're delighted that you enjoyed the event & thank you for taking the time to post to post some great photos of what Ken Ellis described as "... his favourite grass roots aviation event in the country!"
I've re-read the posts a few times and I now wonder if some posters were expecting to see photographs inside the cockpits; not sure!
We hope to see you again next year, we may try something special for our 20th Anniversary year!

Re: CockpitFest 2018
Your probably right and I can see that in John`s post. Just saw red with the `decapitated aircraft` comment which I felt was disrespectful to the efforts of all involved with the event.
Will definitely be there next year, wanna see the progress with that Puma and Chinook acquisition. Great job all round at NAM.

Re: CockpitFest 2018
It's quite interesting what you observe at the event - there were a lot of people on both days, just going along the line recording the serials; even more taking photos; and a few taking up the opportunity to sit in some of the exhibits.
The Puma and Chinook situation is quite interesting. The Chinook is a long-term project (albeit a lot of structural rebuilding work has already been completed), while the Puma is moving along at quite a pace; waiting on an opportunity to fit the recently acquired tail boom - we may soon have an airframe that wears Puma colours from 4 different eras!
Both helicopters were accessible at the weekend thanks to the efforts of our volunteers!
