A phabulous phew hours at Yeovilton!
A phabulous phew hours at Yeovilton!
Here's my offering from an amazing evening of photography at Yeovilton last week, courtesy of Threshold.aero and Navy Wings. I will admit that I did make a cock-up on the calendar front as I'd convinced myself that the event was on Wednesday so I duly made the three-hour journey from Wolverhampton to Somerset oblivious to this fact. I arrived with plenty of time to spare but didn't expect to see such an empty car park! After some time I checked the ticket and it had Thursday written clearly on it!! So it was home again driving away from an amazing sunset and a repeat of the journey again the next day, so it was a shame it didn't happen on Wednesday! To compound matters further, my wife and I had already planned to take our dogs out to Brean on Saturday as well so I feel like I could drive the M5 with my eyes shut now!!!
Anyway, it was a great night with a great atmosphere, nothing was any trouble and tea & cake was most appreciated! It was a shame there were no engine runs on the evening as it would have been great to see flame and glow in the dark but hopefully there'll be another chance soon. Many thanks to all involved for a great night.
Thanks for looking, there are more on my Flickr and I do have more to add soon!

Sea Vixen looks pretty good after its mishap, you've really caught the Phantom though, the contours and the way it brutally exudes power. Well done.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

Some really great shots, lovely angles to a lot of the shots. Looks as if it was a great night , thank you for sharing.

Wow!!
Fantastic images
The star for me has to be that beautiful Phantom
Wish i'd know that event was on
If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost to attend (so I can bare it in mind for next year)?

Re: A phabulous phew hours at Yeovilton!
Thank you! It was £31-ish with "booking fees" etc which, comparing it to the price for similar events put on by other groups, I thought was very reasonable. A lot of thought went in to the night and it was great to get access to some unique assets. This was the first event that Threshold.Aero have done with Navy Wings and as such, it was a test for future events. Hopefully there will be another one with engine runs, that would be the icing on the cakeThe Phantom wrote:Wow!!
