Lightning Preservation Group Night Shoot
Lightning Preservation Group Night Shoot
Hi to all
Just a few quick edits from last night.
Great event with very nice people.
The dedication shown by the group has to be admired considering they are all volunteers and some travel from as far as Scotland to host this event
The group has some very nice plans for the F3, cannot wait to see in her new scheme.

Love the "Frightening", lost many days when I should have been attending school watching the T5s, F6s and F3s at Binbrook.
Awesome days

She certainly was and extremely capable at it, probably held her back though in export sales and the aggressive marketing of the Starfighter did not help.Andy_99 wrote:Fantastic shots

Re: Lightning Preservation Group Night Shoot
I also lost schooldays at crash gate 3 and on the road up the hill on the approach . Never forget that "whooshing" noise as the air settled after they passed over.LTFT5 wrote:Hi Paddyboypaddyboy wrote:Hi Andy

Probably fitter then, not sure I could cycle from Grimsby and back now.
At least the German Starfighter's annual visit was during the summer holidays. They made a noise that could only be a Starfighter, particularly as the pilot would often give us a "blip" as he passed the crash gate.
Thanks for the great photo's. I don't know what ever happened to the 100's I took at the time on the Zenith, like a few things that have happened and passed forever.
Re: Lightning Preservation Group Night Shoot
Great shots Andy! It looks like they're ready to go!!!!!!!
Re: Lightning Preservation Group Night Shoot
Very nice Andy, they look like they're trapped in a 'time warp' ... I wish Binbrook still was.
Crazy, I've done lots of vehicle testing up and down the runway there for work, and obviously seen all the airframes around but never been on the photo shoots.
Excellent images and thanks for posting.

I know what mean, I use to bike everyday in the school holidays from Cleethorpes, could not do it now though.
Thanks for the kind comment.

Preservation at it best and a great bunch as well.

Funny how people hark back to the classic days.
I would do almost anything to have just one more day at Binbrook with active Lightnings, but it is never going to happen sadly.
Thanks to all for the comments much appreciated.

That hill down into Thorganby with the right bend at the bottom tested the nerves on the bike
Re: Lightning Preservation Group Night Shoot
Hi Andy,
Can I just say that these images are some of the best I have seen from the Preservation Groups Night Shoot.
The last shot is a peach, great colours and nice depth of field.
Can I ask what equipment you used for these?
I still managed to get home and patched up returned the next day in my mates car.
Wonderful carefree days.

That bend took most of the skin from my right hip as I lost control of the push bike on loose gravel.martmpf wrote:That hill down into Thorganby with the right bend at the bottom tested the nerves on the bike

Nice crisp, sharp and detailed images.
I do like the evening shots, they seem to be more 'imposing...'

I wonder how many times you pedalled harder to see what speed you could get up to by the bottom of the hill though, risky stuffmartmpf wrote:That hill down into Thorganby with the right bend at the bottom tested the nerves on the bike

Of course you can, its nothing flash I'm afraid, all shot with a Canon 600D and the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens, and a cheap old HAMA tripod.
Catch up with you soon.
Thank you for the kind comment and I know what you mean with regards to night shots, I've really got into them recently.reheat module wrote:Nice crisp, sharp and detailed images.
