Stan on the Hill Dawlish RN Raiders update.

Hi. Great day on the hill at Dawlish. Big thanks and well done to all involved whether Organizing, Crowd Control, Fight Crews or any one else involved.
Like most people i spoke to it was the chance of seeing the two Lancasters together over Dawlish that was the main draw although the hill must be the best place to see the Reds display. Then of course we had the very well flown (for the cameras on the hill) display of the Jet Provost. and the Canberra PR9. Then the Whirlwind lifted off just as the RAF Seaking flew past.

The Whirlwind / Sea King combo was an unexpected suprise and luckily I caught it as I was just about to go for some refreshments! My second time on the hill and certainly not the last.

Great set, as ever, Phil. Obviously VERA is wonderful, but I really like the Whirlybird and the Seaking together. The Whirlwind is based somewhere in Crewkerne and fuels up at Henstridge but I have yet to catch it. I can't believe an old, complicated helicopter like that still flies! A pal of mine is a Westlands boy at Yeovil and he didn't believe me that there was still a flying Whirlwind until he saw it. The canberra is another favourite of mine. Great to see it flying again.

Thanks for your comments. That Whirlwind is great really pleased to have seen it as i was a real youngster when i last say one fly.
