21/4/16 1145z: Spanish AF Typhoons MA01 & 02 scrambled from Šiauliai to intercept 2x RUAF Tu-22M3 routing from mainland Russia in the southern Baltic Sea. Both NATO jets didn't intercept the bombers and only could visually identify them as Tu-22s before they entered Swedish airspace and SwAF Gripens intercepted. The two bombers routed south before heading back north back to mainland Russia. This was the first time since 31/08/15 that Backfires were seen over the Baltic Sea.

27/4/16: Spanish AF Typhoons (MA01 & MA02) from Šiauliai Airbase were scrambled to intercept a RuAF Il-38 flying in accordance to a pre-filed plan, maintaining communication with air traffic control centres, but with on-board it's transponder switched off.

28/4/16: Spanish AF Typhoons (MA01 & MA02) were scrambled from Šiauliai twice to intercept RuAF aircraft over the Baltic Sea. The jets identified and escorted a RuAF IL-18 flying from Kaliningrad without flight plan, not using its transponder, and not maintaining communication with air traffic control. Later, Spanish AF Typhoons were scrambled once again to intercept a RuAF IL-38. The aircraft was flying towards the mainland Russian from Kaliningrad without a flight plan and without using its transponder but maintained radio communication with air traffic control.

29/4/16: Spanish AF Typhoons (MA01 & MA02) were scrambled to identify and escort a IL-20 over the Baltic Sea flying from Kaliningrad towards mainland Russia. 18/5/16 1131z: RAF Typhoon EI03 re-tasked from a practice sortie to intercept three unidentified radar contacts heading north over the Baltic Sea. EI03 changed it's callsign to EI01 and EI02 was scrambled from Amari. The two Typhoons caught up with the group and identified RUAF IL-20 (RF-95676) callsign 75066 again, flying from Chernyakhovsk back to Chkalovsky. It was being escorted by the same two Chernyakhovsk based RUAF Su-27s as yesterday (Western: RF-33749/93 Eastern: RF-33756/96) both were armed with 2x AA-11 Archer and 2x AA-10B Alamo. They then broke away with Swedish QRA and two more Su-27s arrived from mainland Russia and escorted the IL-20 over the Gulf of FInland (Northern: RF-95257/75) carrying only 2x AA-11 Archer, the other Flanker could not be identified due to the way the northern Flanker was maneuvering. Finnish QRA then took over.
