14/11/16: Baltic Air Policing jets scrambled to identify and escort an RUAF IL-76 in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The aircraft was flying from mainland Russia towards Kaliningrad. The aircraft was flying according to a pre-filed flight plan, its transponder was on and the crew kept radio contact with air traffic control.

17/11/16: Baltic Air Policing jets intercepted a Russian IL-20 in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The aircraft was flying from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad according to flight plan, the crew kept radio contact with air traffic control but did not have its transponder on.

21/11/16: Baltic air policing jets identified and escorted two RUAF Su-27 flying from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The aircraft did not have flight plans, did not maintain radio contact with air traffic control and their transponders were switched off.

22/11/16: Baltic air policing jets intercepted an IL-20 flying in international airspace over the Baltic Sea from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia. The aircraft had a pre-filed flight plan and maintained radio contact with air traffic control but its transponder was switched off. Later in the day NATO jets intercepted an RUAF An-26 also with a pre-filed flight plan, maintained radio contact with air traffic control, but with its transponder switched off. The aircraft was flying in international airspace over the Baltic Sea from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia.

23/11/16: Baltic air policing jets intercepted an An-26 in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The aircraft was flying from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia according to a pre-filed flight plan and maintained radio contact but its transponder was switched off.

1/12/16: Baltic air policing jets were scrambled to identify and escort an RUAF An-26 and Su-34 aircraft flying from Kaliningrad from mainland Russia. The An-26 was flying in accordance of a pre-filed flight plan and kept radio contact with air traffic control but its transponder was switched off, while the Su-34 fighter jet did not conform to any of the requirements.

6/12/16: Baltic air policing jets conducted two alert scrambles to intercept two RUAF aircraft. 1x IL-38 and 1x An-26, in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The aircraft were flying in accordance with pre-filed flight plans, keeping radio contact but their transponders were switched off. They were both flying from the mainland Russia to Kaliningrad.

7/12/16: Baltic air policing jets were scrambled twice to intercept an Su-34 and an IL-38 bound for mainland Russia (flying from Kaliningrad). The Su-34 had a flight plan but did not have its transponder on and did not maintain radio contact, the IL-38 had a flight plan and kept radio contact but its transponder was off.

10/12/16: Baltic air policing jets were scrambled once to intercept two RUAF An-26s in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The aircraft were flying from mainland Russia towards Kaliningrad. One of them had a flight plan and kept radio contact with air traffic control but did not have its transponder on, while the second one was flying in line with all three regulations.

13/12/16: Baltic air policing jets identified and escorted one Su-30SM (70 Blue) flying from mainland Russian towards Kaliningrad in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. Also, two Su-27s were intercepted on their way from Kaliningrad in the international airspace over the Baltic Sea to meet the Su-30SM. Although all the three aircraft had flight plans, none kept radio contact or used their transponders.

15/12/16: Baltic air policing fighter aircraft intercepted one RUAF Su-24 flying in international airspace from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia. The aircraft did not have a flight plan, did not maintain radio contact, and its transponder was switched off.

There's been no live scrambles in the Baltic since 15 Dec 16. There was however a scramble today (25/1/17), still waiting on the full details. Reports point towards an IL-18 but not 100% certain at this point.

25/1/17: Baltic Air Policing jets were scrambled three times to identify and escort 1x RUAF An-26 and 1x RUAF Su-24in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The An-26 and Su-24 aircraft were flying from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia. The An-24 had a flight plan, maintained radio communication and its transponder was switched on, the Su-24 had a flight plan but did not keep radio contact and did not use its transponder. One more An-24 flew from mainland Russia towards Kaliningrad according to a pre-filed flight plan, kept radio contact but its transponder was off.

29/1/17: Baltic Air Policing jets were scrambled to intercept an RUAF An-12 callsign 12124 serial RA-12124 in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The aircraft had a flight plan, kept radio contact with air traffic control and its transponder was switch on.

The IL-22 kept radio contact with air traffic control, its transponder was on, but it didn't have a flight plan. The two escorting Su-27s did not keep radio contact, did not use transponders and did not have flight plans.

16/2/17: Baltic air policing fighters identified and escorted an IL-22 flying from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia and two Su-27 escorting it. The IL-22 had a flight plan, used its transponder and maintained radio contact, while the two Su-27s didn't.

29/3/17: RNAF F-16s MA01 & 02 scrambled from Siauliai, identified and escorted an RUAF An-26 (BLUE 21) and four RUAF Su-24s (Three of which were RF-12033, RF-33848 and RF-34003) in international airspace over the Baltic Sea flying from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia. The An-26 had a flight plan, its transponder was on and it maintained radio contact however, the four Su-24s did not.

30/3/17: RNAF F-16s MA01 & 02 scrambled from Siauliai intercepted an RUAF An-26 (RF-36010 / 32) in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The aircraft flew from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia according to a flight plan, with its transponder switched off but the crew kept radio contact with air traffic control.

28/4/17: NATO air policing jets scrambled and escorted 1x RUAF Tu-134 and 2x Su-27. The Tu-134 was flying towards mainland Russia from Kaliningrad according to a pre-filed flight plan, with its transponder switched on while keeping radio contact with air traffic control. The Su-27s escorted the Tu-134 from Kaliningrad to Estonia’s border and them returned; the aircraft did not have flight plans, did not use transponders, and did not keep radio contact.

23/5/17: Baltic Air Policing jets intercepted 1x RuAF Tu-134 RF-90789 in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. Heading for Kaliningrad from mainland Russia, the crew had the transponder switched off, radio contact was maintained but the flight plan was submitted behind time.

25/5/17: Baltic Air Policing jets intercepted 1x IL-20 RF-93610 flying from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The IL-20 did not have a flight plan, did not maintain radio contact, and did not use its transponder.

26/5/17: Baltic Air Policing jets were scrambled to intercept 1x RuAF Tu-134 RF-90789 and 2x Su-27 in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The Tu-134 was flying from Kaliningrad to the mainland of the Russian Federation according to a flight plan, with its transponder switched-on and kept radio contact, while the two Su-27 escorted it until the Gulf of Finland and then returned to Kaliningrad over international waters, without a flight plan, with transponders off, and without maintaining radio communication.

28/5/17: Baltic Air Policing jets intercepted 1x Ru Navy An-72 RF-72031 45 and 2x Su-30s 71 & 72 flying from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The An-72 was flying according to a pre-filed flight plan, kept radio contact and used its onboard transponder. The Su-30 complied with none of these requirements.

30/5/17: Baltic Air Policing jets intercepted 1x IL-20 RF-93610 flying in international airspace over the Baltic Sea from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia. It had a pre-filed flight plan and maintained radio contact with air traffic control but its transponder was off.

29/6/17: Baltic Air Policing fighters scrambled to identify and escort 3x RuAF Su-27 flying from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The Russian aircraft did not have pre-filed flight plans, did not use transponders, and did not keep radio contact with regional air traffic control centres.

4/7/17: Baltic Air Policing jets conducting the Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states were scrambled to intercept 1x IL-20 in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The aircraft flew from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad without a flight plan, with its transponder off, but maintained radio contact with air traffic control centres.

7/7/17: NATO fighter aircraft were scrambled once to intercept 1x IL-20 in international airspace over the Baltic Sea . It flew according to a flight plan, its transponder was switched off, the crew maintained radio contact with the ATC.

11/7/17: NATO fighter jets were scrambled once to identify and escort 1x RuAF Tu-134 and 1x Su-27 flying from Kaliningrad to mainland Russia in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The Tu-134 had its on board transponder on, a pre-filed flight plan, and kept radio contact with regional air traffic control centres. The Su-27 complied with none of those requirements.

21/7/17: Baltic Air Policing jets scrambled to intercept 1x An-26 and 1x An-140 flying from mainland Russia to Kaliningrad in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The An-26 had a flight plan and kept radio contact with the regional air traffic control centres but its transponder was not switched on, the An-140 had a flight plan, maintained radio contact and used its transponder.
