I could do with scanning my old pictures but never find the time. This is one for the list, ZA374 at the National Museum of the USAF.

Hi,

The last post is already a while ago so time to add some shots. Already closed down more than a decade RAF Brüggen was for me the place to be to ''score'' RAF Tornados. Here a few from the last years of operations.

Smoking before take off ZD707/CH and ZA550/DD cleared for a full after burner take off, February 1999
Image

ZD811/JJ wears a new deployment J-code - used while operating from Ali al Salem/Kuwait, February 1999
Image

ZA602/BY from 14sq turns in for the 27 runway just a kilometer outside the base, July 2000
Image

ZA591/DJ en ZA557/AC at last chance point, RAF Brüggen July 2000

Thanks for this Folks, loving the nostalgia. Being very sad I sat down with my navigator's log book last night and discovered that I have flown in 122 of the aircraft listed in the original post, although that includes ZA565 which seems to be missing. During the course at Cottesmore I also flew in 2 Italian and 8 German jets.

132 different GR1/1As, I had no idea.

That's a very impressive amount of different aircraft Wiz. :Wow:

The serial ZA565 was never allocated, the ZA5** Tornados were ZA540-564 and ZA585-614. More info here:- http://www.ukserials.com/

Make that 131 then, spoilsport :)

It only appears once, my third trip at TWCU 14 Jan 1983, I wonder which number I mangled to get that?

I'm not alone, however, if you Google it you can find at least 2 people who think they've got photos of it.

Thanks Mike.
