The test fuselage must have been around a long time - it has the early side fairings. Production ones were faired into the (Larger?) intakes

re XP976 - this was at Dunsfold in 1984

Not that I'm aware of!

But you could contact RAF Wittering on 01780 783838 and ask to be put through to the HOLDING FLIGHT who are the custodians of the collection, that might just get you a visit! GOOD LUCK! :Wow:
I can see why you said good luck - I tried today and there's not a Holding Flight. :@

So it is from Warton, how come it never got a Serial No?

Do you know anything more about it?

Dave
I examined it pretty carefully last year. There was NOTHING on it that caused me to believe it is anything other than a static test frame.
HQ2 out

I have been infomed this weekend that the HHC is not officially open due to some teething problems.

So it's a case of "WATCH THIS SPACE!"

I am particularly pleased by looking at these pictures at seeing XV779 finally inside after many long Years of being the RAF Wittering Gate Guard. I managed to get a picture of this Aircraft way way back in 1988 when on my way home to Scotland from Alconbury - boy I missing the Harrier.

If you want to see a GR3 inside a proper camouflaged hide (ex Vigo Woods, Wittering) then you need to come to the 2013 RAF Cosford Air Show where there will be a Reconaissance Intelligence Centre set piece with hide and GR3 on one side and a Jaguar GR1 equipped with a large centreline recce pod on the other side. We hope not to use barriers thus optimising photo opportunities. Christmas ticket sales where scheduled to cease today but demand is high and the office will be open on monday to meet demand. Email & tel numbers on the website.
