Mildenhall tankers F16's and F-4 Phantoms
Hi all
Been waiting for ages to share these photos with you, but finally found some time at work to use the scanner.
Basically the story goes, my dad went into a shop to buy some windows about 20 years ago, as he walked into the office, is was surrounded by fighter pictures, my dad also loving jets was talking to the guy and he explained that he managed to get a trip in tanker years before at mildenhall, my dad then told him that his son would love to see these photos and can he bring me down here, well the guy gave my dad a spare set of negatives, and I got them developed, these are some of them, they are a bit dark due to my poor scanning skills! I also have some more great scanning to do to share with you guys, some great stuff I think you will love!
Honestly how lucky was this old boy, he is in the last photo in the blue ovals on the left, hope you enjoy.

Great F-4 pics esp the Wild Weasels. He was 'one lucky guy' to quote from that current car commercial.

Wow these are really unique. This must have been taken in the small few years between the end of Gulf War 1 and the decommissioning of the Wild Weasels from Spang. The HARM kills on the F-4's are testament to that. Great bird, never was lucky to see them in large numbers (only airshows) from the dawn of large scale USAFE activities in Europe.
Re: Mildenhall tankers F16's and F-4 Phantoms
Some cracking shots from that era and he really was a lucky man! Do you have anymore as I am sur3 we would all love to see them
It seems ‘Taches’ were quite ‘en vogue’ at the time!
Cheers for posting up

Hi yeah I will scan the others in and upload them.
When you say wild weasles, what are you referring to, the German phantoms?

thanks for that, some fantastic shots of one of my favourite machines.
Re: Mildenhall tankers F16's and F-4 Phantoms
The Wild Weasel Phantoms F3 was referring to are the F-4Gs from Spangdahlem which performed the SEAD role. A quick Google will bring up a wealth of information (did not post any links as some are better than others). These were paired with the F-16s from Spangdahlem in the late 1980s as a 'Hunter-Killer' teamhernaman86 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 18, 2018 7:10 amWhen you say wild weasles, what are you referring to, the German phantoms?
