Hello

Here are some shots from a recent visit to this impressive collection in Johannesburg. Particularly interesting are the captured German types in the collection, especially the unique Me-262 night fighter. More images and a full report can be found here:

Thanks for sharing these, another museum I'd like to visit one day. The other rarity is the Hawker Hartbees in the last shot, I suppose that's what they called the Hart over there.

Was there in 2005. There are very nice museums in S A!.{Beautiful country but has a lot wrong with it, sadly!] I was never quite sure why the 262 ended up there. :S

At the end of the war, various bits of enemy equipment were presented to British Commonwealth nations that had supported British forces during the conflict. The museum also has a pair of 109s, FW190 and a Fieseler Storch on display. I assume they may have some military vehicles too. Similarly there are some enemy aircraft in Australia. Hope this answers the question.

Mustang. Of course. Read the info at the time, but info lost in my old age!. I had some lovely vidoe's of all my museums over the years, but as most of my Airshow and traveling friends are departed I have disposed of them. I think that there was a Mosquito [a wooden one!!] suspended in the roof there, or maybe it was at Ysterplatt.

Yes. That Me-162 is an impressive beast - along with the Buccaneer (built to last in Yorkshire).
