Last Yorkshire Airshow - Sept 2015

Post by F3 » Sun Aug 19, 2018 8:56 pm

In another thread I was recently bemoaning the fact the Yorkshire is now a deprived area as regards airshows whereas in the early 90's we had such as Church Fenton, Finningley & Leeming, and then Elvington's show until '08. There was an attempt to revive this @ Church Fenton (now Leeds East Airport) three yrs ago which attracted a larger crowd than had been planned for and whilst undoubtedly a success as a spectacle seems not to have been so financially as plans for a repeat were dropped. Shame, as the venue was good as was the show despite the lack of military participation. It was one of the last appearances of XH558 which flew in formation with the Gnat pair reminding me that once upon a time it was suggested that a pair be carried on pylons beneath the Vulcans which could act as their own defenders if attacked.

What a great show, some good stuff included in the listing. :) The Vulcan last shot with two Gnats flanking it is pretty special, from the day. The 25 Sqn riddle of the F3 pairs location
is revealed in that thread, just to clear things up Mick  JB
Oh the games people play now :ninja:
