RAF100 Weekend in Coventry

Post by George Aldrich » Sun Jul 08, 2018 4:30 pm

This week has seen two locations in Coventry set up to celebrate RAF100 by a static Red Arrows Hawk T1 XX327 in the Broadgate area, which arrived Wednesday, in preperation for public interaction on Friday through Sunday (today).

The majority of aircraft displays however were those at Coventry Airport, spanning many of the AAQ collection, but not least Vampire Preservation Group's Vampire T11 WZ507/G-VTII, which departed on Friday for a local flight and returning for inclusion in the static display. Saturday saw BAC Jet Provost T5A G-BWGF fly three sorties through the day, and again forming part of the static display.

CVT also received the BBMF's Dakota ZA947 which flew through earlier this afternoon, not pictured here.

Highly enjoyable to see the variety of aircraft in and out of Coventry on show, and it must go with a large amount of praise to the City Council, appropriate RAF personnel, and not least Coventry Airport themselves for facilitating such a fitting mark to the occasion.

Thanks for looking.

George
