SLUFs in Europe

Post by Wigzy » Mon May 28, 2018 3:51 pm

Unglamorous but potent the A-7 was reliable and long-legged making it ideally suited to ANG's 'CORONET' series of transatlantic deployments as well as Navy carrier operations. Here are some that visited during the 70s.

Full colour USN frames and white serials on ANG/USAF - what's not to like. Brightened up my day :thumb:

You cant go wrong with the A7, always enjoyed seeing them over here, if no body minds here is one that is rather topical in that the unit should be back in Suffolk later today with the A7s successor

Nice addition Phil!

Not taking away from John's initial post - maybe we should start threads for differnt types on here (A-7s in this case) - one I went over last night from Lakenheath 1986

Excellent memories there chaps, sitting at Sculthorpe and Wittering, waiting for these to arrive, getting hassled by police, then the 36 that arrived at Waddington, would the USAF ever manage to get 36 jets across the Atlantic in one go now, they struggle to get 8 or 10 over without trouble with tankers etc etc. Thanks for the memories.
