That was a hot one as I recall, made even worse by the Harvest bugs which got everywhere. Could nt wait to get in the bath when I got home!

Paddyboy,

I heard the Outside Air Temperature passed to the Harrier on that Saturday afternoon - Plus 35°C!

Arthur: I am sure (as usual) you are correct :thumb:

I seem to recall the USAF turned on a water spray system somewhere just so that people could walk through :S

I have never drunk so much water at an air display

The heady days of the photo bus. A much missed feature these days. Thanks for sharing.

I remember the heat though I was only 9 at the time - I still have my point and shoot pics of the B-1B, B-52, KC-135 and FB-111 'SAC attack'.

Great to see the Dark Vark shots - super aircraft

Yeah, hotter than a bucket of red ants!!!. By coincidence, I bumped into the Captain of the B.52 displaying there a few years later whilst on a Caribbean Cruise. He very much enjoyed his time at the Fairford show. Three months after being on the ship, I was wandering around Airshow at Oshkosh, heard a voice from behind saying 'High John'. Looked round, there he was again.!! I asked him how he recognised me from behind. 'the suntan' !!, he replied!.. His name was Scott, don't know his surname, and he was a great friend of Bud Holland, who binned the B.52 in that infamous crash whilst doing an Airshow rehearsal.
