Humberside Airport Shows Remembered

Post by F3 » Mon Mar 19, 2018 11:04 am

Held for a brief period from 1982 until the nineties the Humberside Airport shows were nt particularly well attended and are forgotten today but they did provide some happy memories as these pics illustrate.

Nice. Thanks for posting some pics from my local airport where my (shared!) PA28 is based. Well remember most of the shows particularly the ones with Spencer Flack's red fleet present (Sea Fury, Spitfire and the Hunters). Was listening to his radio coms when he departed in the Sea Fury only to crash short of the runway at Waddo with engine failure.

I think it was 1981 when Spencer Flack had his Sea-Fury accident! I managed to take one of the last photos of it taking-off, and sent him a copy, and received a kind reply from him, which I've still got somewhere!!They also managed to get Concorde in a couple of times _- now that was interesting to watch!!

That was a great place go and watch stuff Mick. The approach on 20 over the A18 was a good pull in spot.
Remember seeing a very fast and low Harrier coming from the 02 end, to cross real low over the A18  Happy days
Nice first Hawk shot and also the Mossie nicely caught... :thumb:

Never went to a Humberside show. In fact I never knew about them. Thanks for sharing and letting me see what I missed.
