Harriers and a Jag

Post by jaybee » Mon Feb 12, 2018 10:27 am

I may have put these slides up before, but in my quest with a home made copier system, I don't think I'll get them any better than this. The Harriers taking off from 4 Sqn were taken at Church Fenton
along with the 16 Sqn Jaguar. The other Harrier shots were from Linton... :)

The Harriers in a row at Linton, were there as runway work was being done at Wittering...

Hi John :P

Your home-made jobbie looks well up to the task ;)

The Harriers look good, but that stalky little cat HAS to be the star

Best regards from north of the Wensum :D

Thanks for posting :thumb:

Hi Paddy,

Thanks for taking a peek mate.
Its not quite consistent and I have to wait for a certain type of light , to get the colouring right.
That's not a bad thing, I can at least do all my old stuff now and have a bit of control. All the best Paddy, from Trotters Spotters(South of The Wensum)
All the best... :thumb:

Thanks for sharing. Why so many Harriers at Linton?

Sad pictures of a once proud air force, and now a shadow in the shadows :( thank you so much for a shot in to the past

Thanks for the comments , on the retro look back. Its unbelievable to have seen so much in the mid 1990s, and to see it gone some 10 years later. The Harriers were at Linton
as Wittering was having runway repairs. The next 2 shots show a fading cropped shot from a fading slide, of a Jaguar banking low with afterburner, at Finningley 1992, looking dramatic.
In Another better shot, of the static Buccaneer at Waddington. You can see the laser designator used in the Gulf conflict, underneath...

That's the recce pack that was often fitted (empty) as a crew baggage pod- also made a good canvas for many an airshow message when the bomb bay was rotated. The Pave Spike designator pod was carried on a wing pylon.

Hi LM47...I'll now be searching , to see if I have got any with messages on. I'm still curious to know, did the little module underneath carry a camera or TV unit?...cheers... :thumb:
