Seeing PB's post which included an excellent sequence of shots of the last Lightning display ship from '86 has inspired me to dig out a series of pics of what I believe to be the last ever official, public, display by an RAF Lightning which took place @ RAF North Coates Open Day on Sat. 25/06/88 almost a month after the disbandment of XI Sqn. @ Binbrook. The Lightning which displayed was F6 XS898/BD flown by F/L Al 'Porky' Page. More a cameo performance than a full display sequence, consisting of a series of passes, the event was nevertheless memorable esp' when re-heat was selected in the turns over the sea. On the way home I liberated one of the advertising posters from a telegraph post as a souvenir which was lost in a subsequent house move. However I do have a pic of it which completes the post.
