Happy Days!

Re: Happy Days!
Think the Harrier is 1974. I arrived Wittering in June 73 and the aircraft had letter not number tail codes and the OCU used the 'grasshopper' emblem. If I remember correctly - and it was a long time ago - the change over to numerical tail codes and the new squadron style markings was begun in early 74. Great set of photos.

When the Humber Bridge opened in 1981 ,it proved a blessing to us spotters from East Yorks.I became a regular visitor to RAF Binbrook(I called it "The place of Horizontal rain").I had some fabulous days there,so I thought I would post some pics from there.

A few more:
Blackburn Beverley @ Paull airfield 1975.Since going out of RAF service, this aircraft had a checkered history. It was donated to the Hull Aero club at Paull ,it only just managed to land at their field as it could only just handle Cessnas!!It languished there for many years before going to The Army Transport Museum at Beverley. When that closed it ended up at the fort Paull museum ,where it still resides.
A-7K Corsair ANG @ Mildenhall date unknown
Firefly V RNHF possibly @ Coningsby airshow mid 80`s
Jaguar GR1 @ Binbrook Aug 1982
Hawk T1A @ M`hall mid 80`s
Buccaneer @ HSA Families day Brough

Re: Happy Days!
Oh Boy, do I remember that last Binbrook show
Got to be the worst weather of any show I have attended since 1959
The Frightnings still did an awesome display though, for all of us who toughed it out
I kept my camera gear WELL hidden, though
Thanks again
