A nice warmish day at Duxford with a foretaste of what is to come, weather wise, for air show week although the clouds still have an uncanny knack to roll in when ever anything of note went flying. The Fighter Collection were out to play with their Gladiator, Spitfire Mk.V and P-40F all going up for an air test and a spot of aerobatics over the air field.

A quiet day, flying wise, and a bit warm with it as well. The Bronco did three displays, getting lower each time and TFC's P-40C went up for a test flight for about 30 minutes. The Sea Vixen flew up from Yeovilton and did a couple of circuits so the pilot could get the lay of the land for his display at the weekend. Highlight was the arrival of the Osprey late afternoon and rumour has it that a Pavehawk and Apache will be joining the line up. Subject to the usual's.

Wall to wall blue sky and sunshine but a stiff breeze took the edge off the heat. A Yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met office for Saturday afternoon into Sunday. A Royal Navy Wildcat helicopter dropped in for fuel and the Norseman arrived after it's cross country journey from Norway. Just before the museum opened this morning, the French display pilot called in wanting to do a few circuits to get the lay of the land and the display and spare aircraft set about making a lot of noise as they flew above the Cambridgeshire countryside. The spare aircraft returned at 1.30pm for a very high dynamic and noisy display. I left just after that with Sally-B and P-51/Miss Velma being fueled.

Hi Brian

Another great bimble... well caught in splendid weather. Thanks for the heads up on the Met Office Yellow Warning...although it is now showing the warning for Sunday and Monday, with just light rain showers between 9am and 11am on Saturday.

See you for a chat tomorrow at some point.

The Fighter Collection had their Gladiator, P-40C & F and Wildcat out on the airfield for engine runs. Their Nimrod, along with the Historic Aircraft Collection Nimrod, went flying in the afternoon. P-51/Miss Velma was due to go flying after I had left. The Apache is a left over from the air show weekend, it's broken, and the MiG is spending the summer at Duxford.
