Palma bay and Port Pollensa- July 2016.

Post by Maurits37 » Tue Jul 19, 2016 7:58 am

Hi peeps,

Enjoying my annual holiday in Platya de Palma I noted some local Son San Juan based stuff:
AW139 (241)/EC-LEE SASEMAR > SAR action in front of my appartment in Palma bay on 17/7.
In Port de Pollensa CL-215T 1121/UD.13-27/43-27 from Gr43 was parked outside at the small aerodrom militar/harbour on 16/7.
On 18/7 I saw this CL-215 active in the bay of Pollensa doing some practise water pickups. On the way to Alcudia I passed Palma/Son San Juan airport and saw from a distance an unknown 801 Esc SA330J outside at Ala49 ramp. In the afternoon on my way home a CN-235-100VIGMA partially outside the Ala49 hangar. These guys were not active since I arrived on 8th July maybe due the holiday period?
Update:
20/7 again CL-215T 1121/UD.13-27/43-27 overflew Palma bay near Arenal heading southwest..Nice sight!
Regards,

Maurits
Cheers,

Maurits

Haven't been to Puerto Pollensa for a few Years but the C-215/415s were always one of the highlights of the trip, Also on the odd occasion the Pumas used to fly low over the bay - including one year right low over our hotel ah the memories. Would totally love to go back, love the place.

Choose your time wisely then unknown, we went 4th to the 18th May, no sign of the bomber. No mil visitors there all 2 weeks. The Base ran up the fire engines on base at 0800 every morning and that was it!

At Palma/Son San Juan it changes all the time, always missed the nice military visitors when I am here. Although I have a clear view on the 24R take offs from my balcony it isn't guaranteed to see all the mil visits unfortunately..
