Paphos 25/7/17 - C-130

Post by No comment » Tue Jul 25, 2017 7:30 am

Couldn't quite read off the C-130 departing Paphos this morning around 1000 local. FR24 had ZH889 as being on the ground 10 days ago but I don't trust that! Long shot I know...

Hi

I noticed the following entry in an SBS log from Paphos for yesterday (25th) which shows a Belgian C-130 in the climb through 400' just after 10:00L, and so is quite likely to have been what you saw.

Hope it helps.

Hi, thanks for that - certainly looked like an -H model. Don't suppose you have a link to the Paphos SBS log? There was another one climbing out around 2:30 - 2:45 this afternoon that wasn't Belgian!

Hi

Sorry for the delay in replying. I had a look at the Paphos SBS log but couldn't find any C-130s departing on the day/time you quoted... perhaps the one you saw wasn't fitted with Mode S? For example, the Portuguese Air Force C-130s don't appear to have Mode S transponders fitted, and the AdlA only completed their C-130 Mode S installation programme around this time last year; so one would assume there are likely to be other C-130s operating without Mode S.

As for the Paphos SBS logs in general, I haven't got a URL to pass on to you as the logs I've seen aren't posted to a particular website - or at least one that I'm aware of. For info, a chap called Barry Wilde posts his daily Paphos logs to the Yahoo Mode_S Group, so you'll need to join the Group to have access to them. You can subscribe - if you so desire - by sending a mail to the address below...

Hope it helps.

Best wishes.
