A few of the aircraft buzzing around the airbase.
If you don't like belly shots, move along :D

100% crop of the above, checking to see if using a teleconverter with my 100-400 results in acceptable sharpness.

This is a Navy bird. I believe it's an MH-60, but not sure.ImageDW0A3015_1024X.jpg by Moose, on Flickr

What??? Air traffic is almost constant at Nellis. It's a fighter training base, and one of the largest fighter bases in the world. I can hear mutiple aircraft taking off as I type this this. I spent the last six years of my career there, and have lived nearby for 15 years; jet noise is just part of the ambient sound here.

Umm... I guess there's number crunching as well, but I can't hear that above all the other stuff :P

I have been a few times as well , I just mean that it can be a bit tricky for photos now that you can't get into the desert. Just my opinion

By the way I just come in here to comment on photos not argue - nice shots - that's what they look like from the 'other' end

I'm not trying to argue, I guess I just didn't understand the comment.

Winds were terrible that day! I eventually gave up hoping for any worthwhile shots...well done sticking it out and getting something.

Yes it was. At times you could see huge clouds of dust coming, and I'd just get in the car and roll the windows up and wait.

I FINALLY GET YOUR COMMENT!

Please excuse my previous reply: I think something got lost in translation, on my end. I guess I haven't been around enough to get "number crunching" in the context of spotting for serial/registration numbers. I thought you were meaning Nellis was more of a base for statistics, analysis, data, accounting, etc. as opposed to an busy operational flying base. That's what I couldn't figure out.

I'm slow... but I eventually get things :D

Cheers.

Hi Moose
What's not to like, especially those "splinter camo" f-16s.
Great light and nice sharp shots.
All the best

I don't think that they are that bad!! don't knock yourself as long as you are happy with them who really gives a hoot what others think
I personally was looking at some of my Nellis Slides from Red Flag.2002 last nite it was just before they fenced off desert end, very nice
went again in 2003 when the No Entry signs were erected by then, but No Fencing that really spoiled the plot
