Griffons, Grim Reapers & White Tops

Post by DanBeeden » Tue Nov 06, 2018 9:40 pm

Hi all,

We've been treated to some superb visitors at Lakenheath and Mildenhall over the past month or so, with lots of great shots on here covering the action - the USN contingent in particular. Following a few visits to both bases over the past few weeks, here's a selection of personal highlights:

Seeing the California ANG anniversary Eagle was one of my highlights for 2018. What a paint scheme!

84-0004 returns to the Heath as 'Hitman 01':

'Hitman 02' gets ready to depart:

The 55th WG have provided some nice visitors into the Hall too; starting with RC-135V 64-14841/OF wearing some nice Kadena TDY-inspired nose art and departing as 'Snoop 55':

Cobra Ball 61-2662/OF arrives from Offutt as 'Cobra 55' prior to the start of its TDY where it flew as 'Toad 24':

Resident Rivet Joint 64-14846/OF is on TDY flying regular sorties as 'Mario 64', seen here about to depart on a long TDY sortie up around Scandinavia:

Plus a couple of other recent highlights:

Black Panthers returning from a six month deployment downrange. 'Mazda 82' with Bullseye nose art:

'Mazda 84' (00-3002/LN) known as 'Devil's Darlin' (nose art and mission marks seem to have been promptly removed based on what I saw last week):

Hope these are of interest,

Dan

Nice selection

I have heard the California guard refer to themselves as Griffons on Lakenheath ground

Wasn't sure of the spelling.

Nice. That CA anniversary bird is really something. Got a couple of shots myself on Monday but in nowhere near as good light as yours.
