S. Korea KF-16s - Seosan AB
S. Korea KF-16s - Seosan AB
Hi all,
My first photo uploads to FC! Took them a while ago when I was on a summer vacation. On the last day I had some excellent weather - had to spend few hours at Seosan AB before I got back to Seoul.
Seosan is by far the largest fighter (sorry...is it fastjet in BrE? ) jet operating base of ROKAF and it is not unusual to see 20+ KF-16 flying a day, particularly when the weather is good. It's rather weird if you have less than 10 frames flying! With this base being used to train new F-16 pilots, KF-16D variants are often seen more than C ones.
General spotting info: It is best visited from April to early-October when the light is optimal, and 21L/R use often indicates better photo opportunities as the locations available are far superior than that of 03L/R's. All photos below were taken in the late afternoon from 21 photo location.
Hope these aren't too boring!
First up, KF-16D from 157 FS (제157전투비행대대 in Korean)

Here comes the C variant.

Thank you very much!
Apparently not so many ROKAF photos are up here, will try to upload some from my collections time to time. Occasional USAF treats from Osan AB to follow!
I’m more thankful for that you have enjoyed my photos
Regards,
Jamie

Why not! Maybe I could upload them both in coming days; maybe with different armament configurations as well. Sorry I was busy today and couldn’t make it to uploading here

Hi Jamie, I visited Cheongju a few times in 2016/17 for the F-4’s. Am I right in thinking that Cheongju is now an F-16 Base and the F-4’s have transferred to Suwon. GoogleEarth seems to show a lot of re-building and F-16’s on the ground. I miss the Bibimbab breakfasts at the Highway Services just before Cheongju! Regards Taff.

Hi Taff, Cheongju has no based aircrafts as of now.TAFFEVANS wrote: ↑Tue Oct 16, 2018 5:20 pmHi Jamie, I visited Cheongju a few times in 2016/17 for the F-4’s. There is one squadron (29th Tactical Fighter Weapons Group), however, it is not necessarily 17FW aircrafts as this squadron is formed of every fighter type that ROKAF operates. You can easily think it as Korean equivalent for USAF 422TES - That means there will be few F-4, F-5, F-16 and F-15K as well. And yes F-4 was transferred to Suwon last September, with only one squadron (153FS) remaining.
Beginning next March, all F-35 will be based out of Cheongju.
Regards,
Jamie
