A few hours outside Souda Bay

Post by wezgulf3 » Mon Sep 17, 2018 1:18 pm

Spent a week on Crete with about 8 hours outside at Souda Bay, the EP3E was more than welcome!!

Not much from the home team though....

Wes...

Nice work, risky but clearly worth while, particularly for that interesting looking Dash 8. Never seen a U-28 in that lighter scheme either.

Nice shots.
You saw the U28s in far better weather than we did in St John's!

For good reason, spending 8hrs outside Souda you were risking having an extended holiday courtesy of the Hellenic Government.

Nice shots though

Nice post from a rarely viewed base, you must have been well hidden or just plain lucky :ninja:

I should have made it clear in my OP, the 8 hours was spread over 4 days, I was also away from the base in olive groves at either end. Saw no one at all in my time there.

Might've changed my mind about that visit. Surely that EP-3E crewman in the port beam observation window has 'eyes-on' you? Maybe your Olive Green poncho is not that good!
Since watching Midnight Express & Deliverance this evening I'm gonna leave Souda photography to you Wez. :O

Great set of lumps and bumps. Amazing how much they modify the original airframe. Thanks for posting.

Nice to see something from Souda Bay and well worth the effort, great selection particularly the EP3E .

Nice set. Unusual subjects. Great backdrop. Inviting blue sea. All I need now is a bottle of Mythos. Love Crete. Thanks for sharing your holiday experience! What was the address of that olive grove?
