San Javier Patrulla Aguila 5th April 2018

Post by paulh » Fri Apr 13, 2018 8:12 pm

Managed to grab a few hours at San Javier last Thursday in some glorious sunshine.
The Patrulla Aguila Team managed 2 practice displays whilst I was there but unfortunately disappeared into the distance for the flying!
As can be seen a few of the jets have a 75th Anniversary Badge of the Spanish Air Force Academy in San Javier.
Thought I would post these due to not many shots being posted from here.

Great pics, we have a villa around 20 minutes away, is it easy to get to this viewing point?

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark

It's very easy to access the main viewing area.
Turn off the AP-7 heading East towards the airport, the roundabout just before the airport turn right heading towards Los Alcázares, after approx 1/2 mile turn left on the small track.
This track is just this side of the go-kart circuit.
Drive straight down there to the runway - easy. You can follow the track around the end of the runway to view from the opposite side so the sun is in the right place if you wish.
The Military Police will come round on a regular basis checking you - all I do is make sure they can see my camera and give them a wave. I have had no problems with them during many visits.
Look forward to seeing your photos on your next visit :thumb:

Cheers - Paul.

Thanks for posting these Paul.
I visited about 18 months ago, it's great for photography and viewing from the western end, and the authorities seem fairly relaxed there - trying to get back!

Mark, what Paul said plus mosquito repellent. The little blighters on the lagoon side of the runway are a real nuisance this time of year!

Thank you all for the kind comments, pleased to hear several other FC members manage to get to San Javier as well.
If any others are in the area it is worth a morning visit especially this time of the year when the team are frequently practicing before the display season.
With the base being half civvy/military not sure what will happen towards the end of the year.
Rumour is the Civvy aircraft are all moving to the new airport at Corvera, and hopefully San Javier will be all military.
Fingers crossed it will stay open.

Thanks again fellas, Cheers - Paul.
