A Grim day at Lakenheath 11 April

Post by slogen51 » Thu Apr 12, 2018 12:29 pm

what happened to spring!

Lakenheath was quite busy with a fairly major F-15C launch with lots of pointy things on board but the light was hideous

Thanks for sharing them with us anyway Mike!

I'm somewhat relieved to see that I'm not the only person who is stuck with crappy weather when I role up on my annual visit to Lakenheath.

Thanks for posting, Mike. Very nice shots considering the weather. :thumb:

Returned home yesterday morning, should have known one of the Oregon birds would pop in. :grr:

Thanks , the grim reapers launch was good to watch and listen to - they didn't stop at the arming area.

I saw 84-0021 as an EG and apparently it was a BT

Word at the famous fence is that the Leeuwarden eagles are coming to Lakenheath at some point

Much better weather next week according to the BBC so it must be true.

It certainly was a BT-coded machine. I saw it at Bentwaters in December 1988 and Fairford IAT 1991 & 1993.

6 aircraft departed to Aviano yesterday, not sure if they're there using it as a stopover before continuing to Morocco as was originally planned.

Ten went in total (6 x Grim and about an hour later 4 x bullet callsign)

Don't know where they went but maybe recent events caused a slight change of plan

Be nice to see them all back in the sunshine

Great Pic's considering the Weather was pants. I see the Reapers were carrying "Live" Missiles(red & yellow bands).

Interesting the 'Live' missiles, plus Sniper pod as well :) I know the sniper pod has an AA mode, but never seen it on a F-15C before!
