Barton Airbase - or so it seemed!

Post by POL » Thu Feb 15, 2018 2:01 pm

Managed a quick dash up to Barton earlier today, and was rewarded with two RAF Chinooks, a Navy Wildcat, and an AAC Dauphin just transiting the zone. Sadly had to leave prior to the two Apaches arriving.

Not bad for a quiet little GA airfield I guess

'Ultimate1' arriving with 'Titan27' transiting to the north:

'Ultimate2' departing. I took more photos of this as there's not long left for the HC.5! Sadly it managed to follow a bit of cloud around:

'Skua 350' arrived, set down, and then departed in to the circuit before returning for a cup of tea and a bacon butty:

Brilliant photos!

Can I ask where these were taken from? I'm hoping to get across to Barton soon myself.

Thanks very much for the quick reply. I knew that there was a public cafe, didn't realise you could spot from the tower as well.

Nice selection, the ones from the "bulky" Chinook are my favourites

Gents I will answer on Chris`s behalf as he is busy working, A mistake in thinking the HC.5 were to be converted to HC.6A standard, so fear not the HC.5 will be around for as long as the MOD deem them to be sorry for the incorrect info
