Hi All,
Took a couple of days off work this week to go and enjoy some flying! First mil spotting trip of the year and the first test of the new Sigma lens on fast jets!
A big thanks to the lovely gent that showed me the fantastic crash gate location on tower side and let me borrow your step ladder! Already planning the next trip once the weather is on the mend!
Apologies - large post! Featuring a lot of happy friendly pilots!

Lot more practicing to be done to get to grips with the new camera/lens but massively loving getting back into spotting/photography after a long time away from it all
Here's a couple from Lakenheath on 10th as well. Made my wat up to Coningsby and found the weather completely awful, gave up after a while and managed to catch a little bit of action before dark. Made the mistake of leaving ISO on auto and ended up with Mosaics instead of photos, lesson learnt!

Got to get used to trying to shoot through the fence with the new lens too!
Did you know that registration to Fighter Control is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....

Hi Chris
Considering that awful light, you have done really well, IMHO, to wrest those shots out of the murk
Thanks for posting

Looks like you had plenty of action at Coningsby, great too see
( I recently left my camera white balance setting on indoor - completely washed out my Mildenhall shots - one day I will learn)

Thanks Paddyboy
First time out properly with the new SLR and treated myself to the Sigma 50-500 as well so trying to get used to it! Quite happy with the Coningsby shots!
slogen51 - I've done many a similar stupid thing. Took me a good 5mins the other week to work out that the reason I couldn't see anything through the viewfinder was because I'd left the lens cap on - didn't even cross my mind as I was so sure it was in my pocket

Great shots! I love watching the Typhoons at Coningsby. Fortunately I get to spend a couple of weeks staying there every year!
Re: RAF Coningsby 11/01/2018
Takes me a 3hour drive to get there but I've promised myself this year I'm going to get up there as often as possible. Already planning another trip up on 1st Feb - weather dependant though... not looking so great on the long range forecast at the mo!
