Lakenheath this morning.

Gents,

Made one of my now infrequent runs over to see if I could catch anything and for once came away pleasantly surprised.

Hi Gary
Very nice photos, :thumb: looks like the dude abides name has gone? Caught the C17 as it departed and came right over us at the fen, it was mightily cold on the riverbank and still very windy.
Interesting to see the fly around patterns of the Eagles over there approach\ circuits.

Some great catches. In the back of '202 though . . . she/he is a bit short isn't she/he??!!? Either that or the 'G' is more pronounced in the rear seat.

Thanks gents. After the early launch and recovery I was about to go and call it a day, so was rather surprised when the starters began howling at around 11:00 and the 492nd came out. Nick, was that the 492nd four ship ('Nail' flight) who when they came back went East from around 'Charlie' to position for the initials to runway 24. They flew a nice finger four in the distance.

Hi, and thanks for the kind words. To answer the question it represents the various squadrons assigned to the 48th Fighter Wing.

The blue is for the 492nd Fighter Squadron, the black outlined in yellow is the 493rd and the red is for the 494th FS. When you see a jet as below with all four the red and blue are as above, the yellow is for the 493rd and the green represents the HH-60Gs of the 56th Rescue Squadron, which for at least a short time still is the fourth flying squadron assigned to the 48th FW. These jets are 'wing' aircraft and are usually marked for either the 48th Fighter Wing or 48th Operations Group (as below). Generally, but by no means exclusively the red and blue tailed E models will operate with their marked Squadron, but occasionally they mix and match. Hope that helps.

Hi Trev, probably do at least one of the Christmas days assuming we get some decent sun. We're been pretty lucky the last few years so it's got to run out soon!
