BAN Landivisiau 26 Oct 17

Post by Andy L » Wed Dec 06, 2017 9:04 pm

Evening folks
Following a post from jdupons (Thanks) that there were 3 Egyptian Rafales here I decided that an expedition out west was in order.
With the sun just peeping above the horizon and armed with a Ginsters steak slice, half a bottle of Coke and a pair of wellies I set
out for the end of the earth (Finistère)
Just over 2 hours later I was watching the DGAC Beech 350 Calibrator whizzing around, but the Rafale action soon afterwards and
continued until about 12:00

Things ground to a halt after the Falcon, so I took the opportunity to go back to the car for a spot of lunch, which was rudely interrupted by the Hawkeye.

After a while the sound of jet engines was heard again so this time I put my wellies on before venturing back to the muddy fields.

Then in the distance.
Smoke...lots of smoke
Could it be?...Could it be?...
No. It's a smoky old Herc.

Back to the Rafales again.

At the end of the afternoon the clouds rolled in and the temperature dropped so I wandered back to the car

So there we go. Plenty of Rafales but no Egyptians :(
All that remained was to drive home & have a massive sulk over the Egyptians.

Thanks for looking
Andy

Thanks for showing us the action from a place most of us will never get the chance to visit.
Cheers and better luck next time with the Egyptians.

Great to see some action from a base visited by many during this years Tiger meet. Nice shot of the E-2 and C-130.

Sorry you could not see the Egyptian Rafale which were rather elusive, effectively . I have been told they came here for the pilots to practise with the simulator mostly, and ther was very little flying indeed.. I don't even know where they were parked
