Constant Phoenix returns
Constant Phoenix returns
Hi all,
While it's quiet at the US bases for a few days, here's a couple of shots from last Monday morning when Mildenhall reverberated to the sound of a TF-33 powered C-135 once again. This was the first sortie of its current TDY and ended up being a long 14hr+ trip, possibly down towards Turkey and Syria as the aircraft dropped off ADSB over Romania.
Either way, it was great to see this aircraft again having first shot it in September 1999 (I appreciate many forum members will have shot this jet literally decades before this!), when it was on TDY at Mildenhall alongside the ASD Old Crow II NKC-135E 55-3132.
Also included are a few shots of the lead supporting tanker which while officially a 100th WG jet, made a nice change as it is still wearing the markings of its former home at Altus AFB.
WC-135C 62-3582/OF flying as 'Lando 90' heavy, takes the 29 under-run:

Close up of the nose art detail. Heat haze was a bit of a headache.

What a jet!

And finally a close up of markings rarely seen in Suffolk:

Hope these are of some interest.
Best wishes, Dan

Re: Constant Phoenix returns
Hi Marcel, no idea of departure details I'm afraid. It's been here about a week and a half and has flown twice so far.
