Canadian Lucky Dip! May 2017
Just back from a trip out to Canada, mainly for wildlife, landscapes and catching up with old friends but while there managed to drop into a couple of airfields on the drive
from Vancouver to Edson and back again.
The stops were mainly for my mate who is into civvy bits n pieces so safe to say I was lucky with what I came away with.
Abbotsford 5th May
A stop just over an hours drive from Vancouver to check out the based Firetankers of Conair....lots of Air Tractors,Rj-85`s,Convairs and Electras aswell as 4 CL-215`s
from Alberta.
The airfield also had a few hercs in various conditions including what I believe were 2 ex RAF Airframes.
At the entrance to the airfield is this CF-101B
Next morning a stop at Kelowna International Airport, this was more for w&r`s but I got very lucky with 3 visitors!
CH-146 no sqn marks
And a pair of CT-156`s from NFTW one of which departed while we were checking out the stored Convairs on the opposite side of the airfield.
The same day we decided to stop over in Vernon which meant a quick check over at the Regional AP,again great if you love Civvy cans and Helo`s but there was also
this nicely painted Beech 90 operated by Allied Wings LP to train future Armed Forces pilots.
Then on our way back to Vancouver from the North East we stopped at Kamloops, having seen goggle images of the airfield with a pair of CT-155`s on the ramp
I guessed I could always dream...well what do you know we pull up on Sunday 14th May to 3 CT-155 sitting on the ramp!
CT-155 from NFTW
And also on display next to the airport terminal is CF-116 116740 pictured here against the sunset on the Sunday evening.
Hopefully of interest
Ross

Hi Ross
Some belting shots there
Always had a soft spot for the Voodoo, since they were based at Benty when I was a nipper
As for that gorgeous little Northrop
Thanks

Cannuck stuff is always of interest. I was @ the Abbotsford International Airshow in '90 when that F5 was the display ship (great pic by the way). Have to dig the pics out now that I'm recovering from my op. Does anyone know if the Abbotsford show is still held, and if not, when was it discontinued?

Thanks for the info Ross. Hardly ever see mention or pics of it in the mags which is a great shame. Still nurturing hopes of a return visit some day!
