Above Thirlmere Nov 15

Post by MikeC1955 » Wed Nov 16, 2016 11:29 am

I needed a day away from the laptop....Wales looked clagged in so I headed North to the Lakes. The view from above Thirlmere is great after a steep climb - plenty of time to spot aircraft as they approach over Thirlmere through Dunmail Raise. That said, this is not the best spot on a winter day when the sun is so low as you face pretty much due South, so untill the sun starts disappearing behind Ravens Crag to the West, the light is, at best, tricky. In this case, it didn't matter as there was no traffic in the morning. Activity between 1.30 and 3.00 saw a singleton Tornado, A-400, Hawk, Puma and, finally, a King Air.

Just a few shots from the day:

Thanks for looking!

Thanks for the kind comments, chaps. It's the first A400 I've seen LL, so a very worthwhile day! Given the current weather, I'm glad I made the trip!

Great shots, the A400 looks great at low level ive been lucky to see it twice low over the house in South Wales. Looking forward to seeing more of them. Great selection. Thanks for sharing.
