Nellis Red Flag 18-1 14th 15th Feb
Hi All
Back to Nellis for Red Flag 18-1 and Green Flag with Shaw and Aviano F16s
Thought the trip was going to be a disaster as the first mornings weather was overcast and by 12:00 it started to rain The launch started and all the photos were crap but by the time the recovery was about to happen the weather improved back to what you expect in Nevada. So the first day came good
Day 2 There were some clouds to start but a much better day all went well and some of the departure "Flexed" ( Off the runway then turn left heading for the mountains ) Right over your head at the NASCAR end of the runway 21 the best place for departures off 03
The NACAR track did have car park marker and number was a good place to park 6 but for some reason the car park marker have been paint grey so park were the local are.... So all good so far
Then a Shaw 16 came in with a full emergency on 21R and was moved ... after that a SJ 15 took the cable on 03R and before that could be cleared another Shaw 16 had hydraulic failure on 03L so closed the field to arrivals
It took 30mins to clear the runways with the RF aircraft holding and most arrived on 03L which was great but the light was going fast
Thanks to Steve and Matt for there company
Now on to the Photos

The aggressor F-16s still looking very smart
Was thinking of going to 18-2 but doesn't look like much on it.

Very nice
Plain Jane Typhoon looks out of place amongst those great schemes!
Aggressor F-16s still look as great as ever

No 8 [the B-1] is a lovely shot!!. It makes one realise just how far those rocks are away. Very deceptive. I thought aircrft were getting quite close to them when I was there a long time ago.
