USAF C-130J Commando II Strix at Spadeadam 4 Jan 2017

Post by catkins » Thu Jan 05, 2017 8:47 pm

A morning visit to RAF Spadeadam on Wed. 4th Jan. saw two 30 minute visits first by USAF Hercules MC130J Commando II 12-5759 Strix13 & then 13-5778 Strix06 of RAF Mildenhall's USAF 67th SOS / 352nd SOW in fabulous winter sunlight.
The first visitor stayed mainly to the northern and eastern fringes of the range but luckily the second came closer, including one overhead transit with the aircraft tracking for ideal lighting from my position!

Very very nice :thumb:

These guys usually transit over my village (East Yorks) on a night, on their way up North West to do some Low Level work? ( according to ads-b anyway)

Cheers one and all for your comments - much appreciated. I was trying out the Olympus 300mm f/4 Pro lens with x1.4 teleconverter but on the old Olympus E-M1 MkI ... so onboard AF a bit hit & miss at times though lens performed flawlessly in such great light! New Olympus E-M1 MkII looks to have much improved AF which is so essential in the quickly evolving, constantly changing scenarios that are the reality of low level aviation at Spadeadam!
Thanks, Chris
