Black Mountains low level 16Oct12

Post by falconfighting » Tue Oct 16, 2012 8:40 pm

Spent the day in and around the Brecon Beacons National Park and Black Mountains today, in the hope of seeing some low level action away from the normal haunts. Looked to be on for a blank which to be honest I was expecting, but as I was walking along my final ridge of the day I heard the tell-tale sound of a jet and this beauty joined the low level system right in front of my eyes..

Nice catch :thumb:
A couple of years ago on a crisp January morning i watched a Hawk come all the way up through the valley of the Black Mountains and exit out the top. Would be great if they used it daily - which no doubt in the cold war era they did, as there were always jets around the Brecon Beacons.

Excellent shot's Alex!! yeah they do use the Brecon Beacons still quite a bit but obviously not as much as they used too, due to the fact theres not much left in the RAF :-( strong winds put some of the flying off at different bases yesterday so im told.

Cheers

Beats waiting around our old neck of the woods laughing at foreign Jetstream pilots ! Nice stuff, Alex.
