According to http://www.ot-baieducotentin.fr/d-day-1 ... juin-2017/, there should be 6 x C-130. However, in previous years, the "procession" has been started by a AdlA C-160 and ends with a GAF C-160.

Usually, 3-4 of the C-130s come from Ramstein with the others being AFRC/ANG. Whether either/both of the C-160s will have been replaced by an A.400 remains to be seen.

As indicated by the thread title, the aircraft operate from Cherbourg/Maupertus.

Ah, fat fingers, phone and possibly a tad too much vin rouge last evening, it's the freqs I'm after, not the crews.
Even an idea of who they'd be talking to ATC wise in the area would be appreciated.

As I typed this 6 c130 went through my overhead at Colleville Montgomery. Could definitely use a heads up from the scanner!

Ah, sorry about that. I have no idea about the necessary frequencies that will be in use. Apparently, three years ago, they used the callsign "NEPTUNE".

As far as I can make out from the above link, the C-130s will only be doing the drop at La Fière marshes (3km West of Sainte-Mère-Église on the D15) at 1300L on Sunday. All other drops will be using either one or two C-47s and are at various other places as well as doing one on Sunday at La Fière at 11.00L.

What you have just seen is probably a practice.

If you haven't been before, the Sunday drop is a real spectacle, but the one in 2019 (75th anniversary) should be something special. The one in 2014 was superb. 12 x C-130s and 2 x C-160s did three runs over the marshes in a continuous loop (i.e. no gaps) and to finish it off 2 x MC-130Js (from Mildenhall) did a high level drop (about FL150) before doing a really low level beat up of the marshes.

Ah, they came back again as HERKY 91 flight talking to Deauville on 120.35 which ought to for notifications and warnings!
There's a pair currently talking to Cherbourg as HERKY 95 Flt.

A/As or DZ freqs would be appreciated.
