Best European airshow ?
Best European airshow ?
Which is the best one in your honest opinions?
I'm determined to drive to one next year ( if I still can) and can't make up my mind where to go yet.

If the keyword in your question is "Drive", then I guess you may be limited to the European boundary?
For me, the place to be (for the latter half of the year) would be Axalp.

Radom and Kecskemet are both brilliant shows so they would be good bets or maybe the NATO Tiger meet which always has an array of fighters present.

NTM 15 is in Turkey, that would be an epic driveBrizeWatcher wrote:NATO Tiger meet
Unfortunately there isn't a big show in Belgium (apart from Sanicole) and Holland next year from what's been said. So it is a case of looking further afield http://www.air-shows.org.uk/uk-and-euro ... ndar-2015/

Sorry for the confusion, thought it was in Norway for some reason (or was that this year. )Gary wrote:NTM 15 is in Turkey, that would be an epic driveBrizeWatcher wrote:NATO Tiger meet

Re: Best European airshow ?
I have actually driven to Bulgaria before, it took two of us 24 hours of solid driving, only stopping for fuel and the loo, muggins here doing the lions share. But no , I don't fancy the drive to Turkey!...LOL (Thanks all the same)
I should have said the European boundary, I suppose 5/600 miles from a continental ferry port, something that could be done in a day/day and a half.

Re: Best European airshow ?
Sanicole is a great event. It is not a military airshow by any means, but does usually enjoy good support from air arms across Europe. It is very like the original Biggin Hill International Air Fairs - a big seven to eight hour flying display with a broad mix of military, civilian and warbird participants. Photography can be a little tricky early on with the light, but it does improve in the afternoon.
The airfield itself is very small - it is just a small General Aviation club. There's no real static display apart from the odd Belgian military helicopter. While the smaller participants (anything rotary or fixed wing upto the size of a Skyraider/Shorts Skyvan) can operate from Sanicole Airfield, anything bigger generally operates from nearby Kleine Brogel for the show.
2015 maybe a slightly tricky year as far as military participation goes as it clashes with Southport, Duxford, NATO Days and Lens. Don't dismiss the Friday Sunset airshow either!

thanks for the reply, it is a hard one next year. just been looking at nato , don't think the drive will kill me :-)
Re: Best European airshow ?
Luxeuil may well be a good show. Im looking at that and Tours this year. Anything else is a bit far to drive i think.
