RAF Displays UPDATE

Post by Captian Hodgkinson » Mon Apr 18, 2011 10:24 pm

At the inaugural “British Air Displays Association” meeting on 13th April, there was an update on the proposed RAF displays for 2011.

At the moment, the possibility of the RAF Tornado GR4 demonstration is looking more promising and was awaiting a final sign-off from No 1 Group. Reports on local television news channels to RAF Lossiemouth suggest that may have happened and rehersals will start next week.

Sadly however, The Typhoon currently remains suspended. The team are looking at restarted rehearsals as soon as all the required assets are back in place but they have some three weeks of practice remaining to reach the right level for their Public Display Authority. The Display Team have been in contact with organisers regarding the attendance of their ground units at many of the events they may miss. Watch this space.

I am up at Lossie at the moment and think those rehersals have started already... NOTAM published last week states role demo 10.30-11.30 Monday/Tuesday 8.30-9.30 Wednesday and Thursday.

I watched it today..........Looks great.

Thats great news, prefer the Tornado display to the Typhoon one anyway lol.

Is it just the one or two aircraft practising?

Just got back from a day, yeah another one (   ) down at the 05 end of Lossiemouth.
I was expecting to see the role demo as mentioned above but it didn't materialise. So I came back fro some lunch and had a read that the NOTAM had been updated to 15.30 -16.30 so I raced back down to catch them taxing down to 05 and take off. after 1 hour of flying around Alien 1 & 2 did a cpouple of touch and goes then landed.

I am no expert but it looks like they are actually practising for the Airhsow season

The NOTAM is saying 9.30-10.30 tomorrow and NO flying on Friday.
