Let's hope the Thunderbirds don't come either!

How often have the US Navy Blue Angels actually been over to the UK for a display? I believe they've only in recent times been to Finningley and made a fuel stop at Lakenheath if I remember rightly.

It's a shame they aren't coming to the UK for a while because they are my favourite display team. I enjoy all the precision from the ground crew to the pilots, it really is a fantastic demonstration of man and machine. It is like going to the theatre with all the music and commentry. Just embrace it and get caught up in the moment like I always do. :Wow:

:P That is the exact reason why i don't wish them to be here. They take up 30mins of the airshow by fart arsing around on the ground first
I might just be being grumpy though. They would look good at Dawlish!

Nice idea, that would be a scoop, especially if they could launch from a carrier in the English Channel.

as there's no JATO take off by the C130 anymore it's no big loss, that was the best bit of their display!

They were due over in September 1990 and were down to fly at the Abingdon airshow but due to a little problem in the Middle East they canceled!

Must admit they can be a bit cheesey. Don't know if this is true, I was told that in the 60's - 70's the Thunderbirds had their own brass band which used to play during the team's performance. After their display they would then taxi their fighters back in line then turn to face the crowd, shut down their engines and in unison the canopies would open up and the pilots would stand up and salute! Cringe making or what?

Absolutely true!!!Everything, and I mean everything is done in formation, whether on the ground or in the air. I suspect that they go for a 'formation pee' before going to their aircraft. Cringeworthy, but so very very American
