Windows 7 on my laptop and Linux on my desktop is OK but running XP on the desktop is unuseable. If I was stuck solely with XP I would give up on FC. As it is I need XP to run some of my older software so posting on FC is now on the laptop which is a pain. Progress?

Use a browser that isn't IE! It's really not that difficult!

I think all that <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/175500> does is to increase the time-out so you don't get the message - which means an even longer delay.
Seems the only real solution for XP users is to run an non-IE internet browser (which on a business PC may not be allowed). My solution would be for FC Forum to allow individual users to de-select Facebook/Twitter conductivity via their set-up. Is that possible?

You should be able to install Chromeframe for IE, in that case, as it doesn't require any elevated privileges to work.

I'm sure Mike can confirm, but it would require quite a bit of work to make the sharing options controllable by the user.

Be aware that it was announced in June 2013 that "Google To Retire Chrome Frame For Internet Explorer And End Support Next January" so not sure whether it is best to grab it before it goes, or to avoid it!

But how many people are still using IE6/7 on Windows XP? When support ends for those, will you upgrade those too? ;)

Just because someone ends support for a product it doesn't automatically mean you HAVE to upgrade. There are plenty of military systems still running on NT4 and Win2K. In fact I know for sure Warton are just about to upgrade some of the systems we deal with to Win Server 2003.

The problem here is that some big multinational (facebook/twitter) have written a cr4p bit of script which doesn't work on one of the worlds most popular OS/Browser combinations. And this site links to that script, making the site unusable for those users. I wonder how long it would take the admins to remove the script if it blocked out the advert so Squadron Prints?

Fact is i have no use for twiter of facebook, and if i can't use the site with older systems, then I may as well just go back to Mil-Spotters.

I agree with Malcolm on this! Firstly I don't use FB on such forums nor Twitter. Secondly I have no problem using Scramble or other sites which have FB and Twitter so why can't this be sorted, please, without the need for the 'membership' upgrading their systems or continuing to have problems using the site.
