Now the clocks have changed

Post by GOOSE » Sun Mar 25, 2012 6:58 am

You'll probably have to update your preferences in your control panel so that the board is on the correct time for you.

Go to -

User Control Panel - Board Preferences - My Time zone - And then select the appropriate time zone for your location and actual time.

Hope that helps? :thumb:

Risking the ire of those in Control

Could we be offered the option of defining which time zone is displayed?

Z....661 posted at 6.25am. Was that before or after changing to BST?

Edited minutes after posting

Why not investigate using the Custom facility says someone

EGVP

What I mean is that the time shown does not define the time zone. BST, GMT etc
Eg our times shown are BST but we only know that because we have guessed it. It isn't important. I will look at the Custom option after I have cut the the grass ;)

It's shown as BEST because that's what you set, so as long as you know what you set the time to be, you should know :)

I just leave mine in GMT/UTC, for example.

100% agree. All the criteria remotely relevant to why we have 'Daylight Savings Time' has long since disappeared. For example, Coal-Saving in the early 1900's (whatever 'Coal is? ) & the energy Crisis of the early 1970's. There is good evidence that BST. is better for health & mental outlook reasons, particularly in child development.
Quite how one resolves having the actual GMT. in the country that is 1 hour forward of that is another hiccup! Allegedly many polls indicate around 60%-vs-40% in favour of permanent change to BST. but the government are not likely not consider a change until around 95% of the entire population call for it. I've got 16 time-based household, car & garage items to manually change in a modest 2-bed property! Whoops....forgot the cameras, make that 18!! :'(
Bearing in mind we haven't had a worthwhile nationwide referendum for some 16 months now, how about it?
1 here for BST. :thumb:

Maybe if we, as a country, changed to be permanently on BST we could just tell the rest of the world that UTC (GMT) had been advanced by 1 hour, then call BST GMT

Clocks must change every summer and winter, for Health and B :grr: Safety reasons. Following the 1968 to 1971 trial, when BST was employed all year round, Northern Scotland saw a net increase in the number of people killed or seriously injured. when going to work and school in the dark in the morning. Of course if Scotland was independent then we could just do it for England. Then not only would you have to show your passport but put your watches back just like going abroad. :P

It has always seemed strange to me that only Scotland has this problem.

Canadians are not troubled by a lack of light in the winter. To say nothing of people in northern Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and other countries of a similar latitude.

I suppose that headlights are fully functional on vehicles north of Berwick. Daft, I call it.

Just a reminder it's that time of year again - don't forget to change your settings to Summer Time.
