Server ~ new location

Post by Box Brownie » Sun Nov 29, 2009 5:35 pm

Just a quick thought bearing in mind the "history".

Yes, I a good idea to be 'located' as needed but what about redundancy protection ~ all eggs in one basket and all that, would mirroring be a good idea just in case???

In theory, setting up a mirror site is a great idea, however in reality, the cost of running two servers 'just incase' isn't really practical for us. Hopefully, once our errors are solved, we don't anticipate any downtime but we have several full backups of all files and SQL databases. So we're prepared for all events.

Cheers,
Mike

Ah! uptime rules and most good hosts will effectively guarantee 99.9% of it. But as you say with backups etc you will have mitigated as much as possible at lowest possible cost for disasters of any/most natures.
