strange one. It says no danger area crossing available which is usually gas explosion tests. Also the schedule is 08:00 to 09:00. I would love it to be an exercise but doubtful.

I wasn't referring to the morning Notam .I was referring to Notams 459/460/462/463/17 The following Danger Areas are activated, Hopefully some flying action and not explosions. Frank.

Let's hope so. It would be nice to see some real action there, unfortunately week days are a no go due to work for me.

Guys, I think you'll find the "NO DANGER AREA CROSSING SERVICE AVAILABLE" NOTAMs for D510 and D510A for 0800-0900 each day this week are simply a notification that no-one is manning Spadeadam ATC at those times - they're starting an hour later because they're extending their hours to 1800 UTC at the end of each day. It's an ATC hours limitation thing. So it doesn't mean extra activity. It means no activity. So you can stay in bed an hour longer!

From what I found out by talking to people they are there all week and are stopping at spade. Apparently spade have
re tarmaced a runway on the base, as Carlisle airport is charging to much to usecthe facilities. They didn't start till late afternoon according to a guy who was there all day yesterday. There is 3 x apache there but only 2 were working the range last night and it was mainly out if view but they did do a couple of low level passes over me.

Just to the North of the Berry hill facility is 2 hard standing areas. One is large enough for parking of several A/C, the other large enough to FARP a single chinook at a time. Was up there 2 year ago with work, so likely the area you are thinking of.

Can't make it today, and the 400mm is in for a service, so may try Thursday.

Was at spade last night from 17:00 until 18:45. Red flags up and army at Wiley. They were practicing ground to air javelin lock avaison. They should have been letting out flares but the ground is to dry so they can't in case of fire. Apparently they are off to America next for live fire training so they will just do that when they are over there. I only caught the last 2 x apache but they had been at it all day. They are there next week doing late evening and late night/ early morning ops but may get cancelled as the weather isn't looking favourable.
