105mm live fire on STANTA
105mm live fire on STANTA
Hi all,
Working in the forest and hearing artillery I headed towards the sound. Arriving at the site I found a set up of 3 105mm firing into the STANTA range from the Grimes Graves site.

Good catch, particularly #5, the shell. Out of focus of course

Thanks everyone. I was pleased and surprised at catching the shell in the photo.
The site is next to the English Heritage site at Grimes Graves and where I have photographed the HH-60 when they were based at RAF Lakenheath.

I often hear the thump thump of the guns from home so it is great to see a picture of the activities. I assumed they were firing blanks, I didn't realize there was a projectile involved.

They use live rounds and fire into the range from this position at Grimes Graves.

Re: 105mm live fire on STANTA
I can remember being at East Wretham near the old bomb dump and hearing the sound of shells going overhead.....eerie sound !
Re: 105mm live fire on STANTA
Rather hear them going overhead than the alternative!
Great catch in shot 5.
